Dirty jazz mixed with a tablespoon of reggae, five ounces of big-up-yo beats, a teaspoon of electronics sifted thoroughly with sexy flamenco, ska, a pinch of laid back soul and world fusion.

The Brow is a zany four piece travelling circus train from Fremantle featuring Rhian Todhunter (on bass and flamenco guitar), Karri Harper Meredith (on trombone and funky dancing), Nicholas Owen (on lead vocals, keys, melodicas) and Alex Vaughan (on lyrical fluctuations, percussion, bass and beer). The Brow produce a variety of jazz / jam hooks and funky beats to create some dangerous, vibrant liquorish assortments on stage. There’s only one condition at their shows: Extreme fox trot and / or boot scooting!

Recently The Brow were National Campus Band Comp state finalists competing against six other top bands for the chance to represent WA in the national finals. Additionally The Brow have been praised for their stellar live performances, with RTRfm airtime and interview coverage.

The Brow, in all its roots, began as a Freo busking duo consisting of Nicholas Owen & Karri Harper Meredith playing their own little jazzy jams in and around the Fremantle shopping district trying to make a buck or two for Chrissy pressies. After party requests and a permanent position at the E Shed Markets, the band said goodbye to its busking days and have since started collaborating and exploring a nice big fat spectrum of music to groove and bop to. The band were successful Ampfest entrants (as a two piece) receiving recording time and are now playing a regular stream of gigs around town, trying to spread the funky message through people’s feet.

”... one of the night’s more unique acts, The Brow, representing Curtin and inspiring a fair bit of dancing. Blending folk, hip-hop and lounge, and with a dynamic stage show, the four-piece were definitely early contenders for the title.” – Tristan Broomhall, Drum Media

“I saw these guys at Ampfest and I must say they certainly are tops!” – Peter Barr, RTRfm Breakfast Show (comparing for the National Campus Band Competition State Finals
