Defined – A profound and irreversible change to a different model of behaviour or perception.
The Paradigm Shift is the collective expression of four like minded individuals hailing from Melbourne, Victoria, all striving towards a common goal: To bring the Energy and Intensity back to Australian Rock. The process of collating the thoughts, emotions and unique views of the band as a whole commenced in February 2005. It was then that the notion of combining powerful musical instrumentation laced with compelling and distinctive vocal melodies was formed. The craftsmanship of song writing began. An intense practising schedule was put in place, gradually enhancing momentum for the band to take their refined material into a live setting. An immediate impact was made on Melbourne’s live music scene, after victory in the 2005 battle of the sounds competition. It was throughout this time that a 3 track demo was recorded. This cemented everybody’s confidence and belief in the music, and provided a new found sense of dedication to continue to develop a distinctive sound, and further solidify their reputation for having an energetic and intense live show. The beginning of 2006 saw the band grace The Evelyn Hotel, Rob Roy Hotel, The Barwon Club Hotel, Ding Dong Lounge, Revolver and Hi-fi Bar. This constant live exposure lead to further success, when the band one the inaugural OZSKAR battle of the Bands competition, held at The Esplanade Hotels’ “GERSHWIN ROOM”, in May of 2006. It was at this time the band entered the studio to record their debut EP, titled “THINK LESS ACTION”, with acclaimed producer Kalju Tonuma, (whom has worked with renowned artists Split Enz, Crowded House, and more recently Trial Kennedy and The Hot Lies) The Result: an instantly recognisable sound recording delivered with honesty and conviction, which vigorously intensifies the true essence of rock Music. The journey has begun…
