SWAYBACK…the metamorphosis…
Its the second that someone asks “so, what do you sound like?”, that a band has to cave in to an honest definition of their sound and style. It’s tough, and there’s no tougher time than when it comes to put pen to paper for that ubiquitous band bio. At this point, a quick re-cap may help.
Swayback emerged in mid-2002, as an ambient electro folk project with only the one permanent member. Whilst an initial demo received a degree of interest, even some acclaim (a review still resides on Half A Cow Records website), this was not where the future lay. In time folk turned to blues, additional members were added, and by the end of 2003, a full-time line-up set, Swayback had turned from Pinocchio into a real boy!
With new members came fresh ideas, more volume, and a brash new sound emerged…slide-driven swagger rock, the likes of which had not been heard since The Flamin Groovies and The Stones strutted the scene during the early 1970’s. Add to Swayback’s old skool sound, a dash of garage punk attitude, plus an electric stage show, and weve arrived at 2006. A breath of fresh air in an otherwise somewhat predictible music scene, Swayback has set about re-establishing the value of a rockin’ good time…and ain’t that what it’s all about?
With the independent release of Swayback’s debut long-player, “The Quest for Rock & Roll” in late 2005, the band embarked on its most productive year to date. Playing with some of the globe’s hottest rock acts (The BellRays, The Datsuns, The Exploders, The Casanovas, The Vasco Era, Bob Log III, 67 Special, Eric Burdon & The Animals, etc), Swayback stamped its foot firmly in the white-boy-blues-rock genre and didn’t look back.
It’s signing to Sydney’s legendary Half A Cow Records and a constant touring schedule throughout 2006 and early 2007 ensured several thousand albums later, the band was to be one of Australia’s great underground rock successes. So, how to follow it all up? Swayback has a new single, “One Way Traffic”, off their forthcoming follow-up LP and are back on the road. Keep your hat on, coz there’s no doubt Swayback will continue to make an impression on the world rock scene, one energetic leap at a time!

Seems like the band owners have been pretty boring here, you should get in contact with them and find out why it's empty!
