Birthed in a roller-door garage of townhouse post-everything suburbia late 2005, released to the Brisbane public mid 2006, Skinny Jean is now planting their rubber soles into the face of mediocrity.

With an habit of constructing quality tunes and thoughtful songs, they are carving a small name for themselves onto the heavily etched tree of Australia’s independent music panorama.

Skinny Jean is fronted by gifted singer-songwriters, backed by an impressive rhythm section, aided by creative and zany inclusions, and heightened by an impacting sense of energy and passion.

Their inspirations include such pop, rock, folk and free improvisation artists as – The Birthday Party, Björk, Bob Dylan, Cornelius, David Bowie, Derek Bailey, The Kill Devil Hills, Modest Mouse, Refused, Sigur Rós, Steely Dan, The White Stripes, (etcetera, etcetera). When the enthused lads and lass of the Jean mash these inspirations into one big cake, the result is, luckily, a very tasty cake.

They aim that their most defining trait is the pursuit of inimitability, a virtue that could mould these toddlers into a tour de force, and time will tell. In the meantime, their contagious enjoyment must be harvested!
