“The Liverpool St. Sessions”

Dear V.I.P!

Jonno Seidler here, reporting to you on an exciting new development in the Sydney music scene. Serotonin, my new(ish) band, have just unleashed their very first demo, Liverpool St. Sessions, onto unsuspecting music industry people such as yourself, and now we need your input!

The band was formed in the wake of the passion of ‘Triple J’

Jonno – Drums/BVs
Jacob – Vocals/Bass
Jeremy – Guitars/BVs

Three musical kids stuck in dead-end jobs and meaningless Uni degrees hoping for something more. Together they formed the group, who have since gigged, recorded and talked themselves up at every possible opportunity. But now the hype has substance, because we have a product! Our demo was recorded in Jeremy’s basement using state-of-the-art EBay equipment. It also involved lots of screaming matches, some forty cups of tea, an over-zealous golden retriever and a combined love of Pro Tools. Anyways, the demo (Jeremy forbids the use of the term ‘EP’ “EP’s are professional, you idiot!”) consists of three tracks, which I shall now proceed to deconstruct for your benefit in 25 words or less…

1.You Need Serotonin – A song about losing your mind but finding your head. Our title track, it features the great line: “It’s not what I need but it’s all I got/I’m low on Serotonin won’t you top me up?”

Sounds like: Nick Drake getting drunk with Maynard Keenan in some dingy bar. He then spills beer all over Thom Yorke who, naturally, goes and sulks in the corner.

2.Intelligensia – Silly name, serious tune. Brings to mind some crazy funk freak-outs of the early-90s LA scene. Features a wickedly rad bass line and a tender Middle 8 which metaphorically kicks you in the balls with its emotional impact.

Sounds like: Chili Peppers meets Jeff Buckley in a dark alleyway and Anthony Kiedis starts a fight over Buckley’s former ex-girlfriend

3.Lady Is A Vamp: Most people will hear this and think of Metallica. Other people will recognise that is a title of a Spice girls song from their culture-defining sophomore release. Some guy in Valencia, Spain will have a quick listen and be inspired to go and shag the nearest female he can find. I’m not sure what the deal with that is, you’ll have to ask Pedro Gonzales III yourself.

Sounds Like: Motorhead cooked in Franz Ferdinand oil while being baked overnight in Grinspoon (DC3 era) sauce. Stir with Guns’ N ‘Roses secret sauce and serve with a side of crumbed Muse.

Now that you know what the songs are –ahem- about, it’s time to go listen to them and pass the verdict yourself.

Of course, why the hell would you bother when you have the CD in your paws as you read this long rambling epistle? Honestly, you’re far better off just chucking it in your stereo and cranking the volume to 11. If you like it, hate it, think the production needs work, think we need to get a new singer, entertain the possibility of seeing one of our gigs, ermailing us, calling us or signing us to your label and making us uber famous..

Then contact me, the one who can’t shut up for more than ten seconds.

Boooring……

Seems like the band owners have been pretty boring here, you should get in contact with them and find out why it's empty!
