Nucleus is the central core around which 4 people collaborate to create music.
Every composition has its nucleus – a certain fragment of melody or rhythm which formed the core of the piece. The arrangement of the additional layers – while at times unrelated – is bound by the central core.
The core elements of Nucleus include:
Matt Quayle – Lead Vocals, Guitar, Oud
Dylan Mitrovich – Guitar, Backing Vocals, Percussion, Programming
Ayden Mitrovich – Bass Guitar, Backing Vocals, Gong
Mark Tyson – Acoustic and Electronic Drums
As well as additional guest instrumentalists performing on Cello, Percussion, Guitar Layers and Keyboard.
Stylistically, Nucleus composes a type of melodic progressive music, complimented by electronic ambience and tribal grooves. The primary focus of the band is to create music of indefinite style, and lyrics which capture the listener’s imagination.
The result invokes a feeling of ice skating on a frozen lake at the onset of an early spring – suspenseful, but immensely enjoyable.
Nucleus originally formed in mid-2005, and instantly cemented a well respected position in the Sydney music scene – headlining their sell-out debut show at The Lair – Metro Theatre. After a year of high profile headline shows, the band received their first award – Outstanding Bass Player 2006 (Ayden Mitrovich). A lineup change late in the year saw a new beginning for the band, as they entered the studio to record their highly anticipated debut EP ‘9 Months in Solitary’ – with new guitarist/producer Dylan Mitrovich.
In 2007, Nucleus broadens their horizons – with their first East Coast Tour in support of the debut EP, as well as supports to high profile Australian bands. Shows interstate are well received throughout the year, and as a result CD and merch sales go through the roof. Nucleus conveys the same vibe in other major cities as they have done for the past year in Sydney. As a result of its success, ‘9 Months in Solitary’ is awarded Release of the Year 2007. The bands hard work is also noted in awards to Mark Tyson for Drummer of the Year, Dylan Mitrovich for Guitarist of the Year, and the band achieving the award of Gig of the Year. Deemed a success, the ‘9 Months…’ era was complete – and it was time to start a new chapter.
‘Circumvolution’ represents the next step in the creative cycle of the band. The follow up EP – much more of a studio-composed release, demonstrates the maturity in composition, and encapsulates the wealth of experience Nucleus have achieved in the previous year. Each piece is an individual work of art, both stylistically and conceptually – but as a whole represents a revolutionary cycle in the bands development.
The track ‘Paragon’ has already been included in the soundtrack to the Australian feature film ‘Green Fire Envy’ – and consequently saw the band perform live at the world premiere of the film at Fox Studios, Sydney in March 2008.
Nucleus is a well grounded, well respected and well prepared band – who is eager to travel on the next journey that awaits.

Seems like the band owners have been pretty boring here, you should get in contact with them and find out why it's empty!
