Man Bites God are a Melbourne-based band who play upbeat rock-pop. Acoustic guitar, bass and a stand up drumkit make Man Bites God a fun busker-rock outfit. Their lyrics are funny, dark, weird and occasionally a bit filthy, but their melodies, harmonies and arrangements are sweet and catchy. They are a fiercely original combo who are committed to writing the kind of cool intelligent pop-rock that seems to be sadly lacking in today’s mainstream.

Man Bites God’s frenetic and fun live shows have won the band popular and critical acclaim, whether touring the pubs, clubs, universities and festival circuits of Australia or performing sell-out gigs at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2004. In 2005 Man Bites God undertook a national tour to promote their new album, The Popular Alternative . The tour was a great success, culminating in a CD launch show at Melbourne’s Corner Hotel, featuring a guest performance by Deborah Conway.

Over the years, Man Bites God have played shows at many great Australian venues, including Hamer Hall, the Enmore Theatre, the Regal Tent, the Corner Hotel, the Espy, the Empress, the Sando, the Prince Patrick Hotel, the Comedy Theatre and many others.

They have shared the bill with such diverse bands as Mental as Anything, Vika and Linda Bull, Phil Ceberano, Dan Brodie, Sophie Koh, Deborah Conway, The Whitlams, Jane vs World and many others. In 2004 they were invited to sing Down Under with Colin Hay in Edinburgh. In 2005 they were voted the unofficial favourite band of the sound crew at the Queenscliff Music Festival. Man Bites God are good so shut up.
