After an exceedingly busy first year on the music scene, Brisbane quintet My Fiction have just wrapped up recording with ARIA Award winning producer Magoo (End of Fashion, Regurgitator).
My Fiction’s highlights over the past twelve months have included being named as finalists for the 2008 Queensland Song Awards (QSong), winning the 2008 ‘RockIT’ song competition for National Youth Week, playing over 50 live shows including support slots with Magic Dirt and Jebediah, touring Sydney and North Queensland, airplay on UK college radio & Triple J, shooting two video clips with airplay on RAGE, recording their debut EP ‘Your Tokyo’, and signing a world wide digital release deal through indie label SUGARRUSH Records. The band will cap off this busy period with the release of the double-a side ‘The Loop/Tonight’ in early 2009.
My Fiction’s music is urgent and edgy, but also adventurous, warm and open. Delving into My Fiction’s world – their music speaks of dark and mischievous romance, heartbreak, missing the last train home and taking your BMX for a joyride in the suburbs. In creating their sound, My Fiction’s members draw on many influences including – Bowie, Sonic Youth, Midnight Juggernauts, Battles, Regurgitator and Modest Mouse.
Reviews for My Fiction “The floor is packed with bouncing bodies as My Fiction hit song after song with such dexterity and perfection that I’m finding it hard to believe that these guys aren’t where Faker is in the Australian music world… It’s an astonishing performance, even bettered when Grey City brings the house down during the encore… the night of musical wonder isn’t just good—it’s ten times good.” — Rave Magazine: Lindsey Cuthbertson.“They skilfully blend elements of New Order and, more recently, The Bravery, to produce a sound that nods respectfully at their influential contemporaries… the band are so cohesive and confident that I have to keep reminding myself that they’ve only just released their debut EP.” – www.fasterlouder.com.au
“My Fiction have melded genres to create their sound, which is giving them the opportunity to become another band from our parts to achieve widespread recognition…. With the fun of indie pop and the passion of alt-rock, My Fiction’s sound is hard to disagree with.” – Scene Magazine
“My Fiction kick off the night with a slice of well-honed and energetic electro/guitar rock. Vocals are delivered with a sense of the dramatic… with slick musicianship, complex arrangements and a fun stage presence.” – TimeOff: Dan Simmons
“…The six kinetic songs on Your Tokyo seem custom made to take a journey to. The title track alone is a little charging explosion of indie-electronica-pop that begs to be taken for a test drive, and even when things turn a bit more guitar-based on Go and the lyrically leftfield Captain America (Has The Bends), there’s still that driving force spurring you forward. Some space-noir instrumentals and remixes towards the end wrap up an excellent debut.” — Rave Magazine: Simon Topper.

Seems like the band owners have been pretty boring here, you should get in contact with them and find out why it's empty!
