- Tell Me Bluntly became a fan of Horsell Common
Horsell Common members Leigh Pengelly (Drums), Luke Cripps (Bass) and Mark Stewart (Vocals / Guitar) are as close to brothers as you can get without, yknow, having the same mother. Friends since birth, these three do all the things that brothers should be able to do well – fight amongst themselves, finish each other’s sentences, and make incredible music. And while they’ve had over 20 years to finely tune the former two, it’s been in the last 3 years that they’ve made a name for themselves with the latter with their band Horsell Common.
It’s this brotherly energy that has given Horsell Common a reputation as one of the most outstanding heavy rock outfits on the Australian live touring circuit. With over 200 shows under their belts, and a massive slew of press praising their performances, Horsell Common have risen to the occasion with their new record “Satellite Wonderland”, creating a record that captures the energy and passion of their live show – and displays their ability to write music that’s as technically brilliant as it is melodic.
The record tells the story of a couple that falls in love via the chemistry (and chemicals) they find in being self-destructive. As the couple fall more in love, the story unfolds as both a tragedy and a mystery, with all five songs driving home the concurrent theme in their own way. From the onslaught of perhaps their most energetic song yet in “You”, through to the tragic ending of “Satellites” – Horsell Common’s “Satellite Wonderland” shows a band that is able to set themselves apart by truly being something of a phenomenon in the rock scene.
Horsell Common’s Satellite Wonderland is out September 23rd through Boomtown Records. Having just completed national tours with Hawthorne Heights (USA), Kisschasy and Karnivool, the band will take their shown on the road with highly respected singer songwriter Jonah Matranga in September.
What the critics say:
“Satellite Wonderland sets a new standard for a scene that has too long relied on hype and image, proving that you don’t need a screamer or ridiculous fringes to be both heavy and melodic. Inspiring stuff. 9/10” – Blunt Magazine
“I think ‘Sentenced’ from this EP would be my favourite track of 2005. Great songwriters, excellent live band Lost A Lot Of Blood was voted #1 by “SFL” listeners as their favourite release mid way through the year.”
Stu Harvey, Triple J Online- “Lost a Lot of Blood” was voted the 5th best release of 2005 by the Short Fast Loud programmer, and voted the 4th best release of the year by the programs listeners.
“Horsell Common, what can I say? Each time I see these guys is like being musically reborn. Horsell Common maybe a three piece band but they have as much depth as a full scale orchestral production.”

Seems like the band owners have been pretty boring here, you should get in contact with them and find out why it's empty!
