The Butcher Sisters
Kelly and Louise were lucky enough to discover from a young age they had a natural talent for singing and an intuitive natural harmony. “It’s a sister thing”, they’ll often say when asked what the secret to their unique sound is. Over ten years of experience in the music and entertainment industry has loaded the girls with the savvy and confidence to front up the band. Audiences can’t help but feel involved and energised by these talented performers.
The Skins
Laura is a fanatical drummer. In fact, if she had her way there is nothing she would rather be doing at any given moment than giving the skins a lashing! She is frequently the envy of aspiring drummers at gigs leaving audiences amazed by her enthusiasm, stamina and skill behind the kit. A talented musician, Laura has been known to pick up the bass and guitars and play a few songs. Watch closely at gigs and you might notice that Laura also sings!
The Axe
As sole guitarist and primary song writer for GiLF, Cass has a lot of weight on her shoulders. But as she pogos around the stage and unleashes a steady stream of inspired tunes, you just wouldn’t know it. Her skill and style as a guitarist is unmistakable and she fills the room with both complicated runs and distinctive, rich melodies. Her song writing is profoundly emotive and provocative, and draws from modern life, her imagination, and her time growing up in outback South Australia.
The Bass Groove
A natural musician, Lauren can play almost anything you give to her. She has in the past played drums, guitar, piano, clarinet and saxophone, but for the time being has settled on the bass guitar. As well known for her red hair as she is for the driving and complex bass lines that she plays, Lauren is a joy to watch play. She leads the rhythm section of GiLF with confidence and skill. You can’t help but tap your foot as she lays down the groove.
The Bottom Line
The culmination of talent, creativity, and ability that GiLF combines is extraordinary. Together, this group of self-confessed music junkies have created something that has been credited by many as both unique and thoroughly entertaining. GiLF represent a new wave of confident and professional female musicians and truly has something very special to offer.
