The past year has been a nothing but a rollercoaster.
From a tour of Germany playing at the World Cup
games for the NRW music Festival, to supporting Daft
Punk in Hyde Park London for the 02 Wireless Festival
2007, to a hefty gigging schedule in between, playing
some of London’s most prestigious haunts. (Koko, Barfly,
The Grand, Waterrats, Halfmoon, Dublin Castle).
Incarnated as a 4 piece band, songwriter Nic Capelle
erupts on stage with impeccable timing and shear
vocal force. Piercing like Tom Jones, but cool like
Dave Grohl, this is a heady mixture of Rock, Electro
and cinematic Soul. Familiar, but oh so original. This
is truly a signature sound. Talented musicians Rich
Taylor: Bass, vocals (Formally from band The North)
Paul Gregor: Lead Guitar (Formally from Slovak band
Stares) and Luke Bourne: Drums, help to form a group
of industry professionals.
Knowledge is vital, but energy is key. Capelle
connects on stage through samples, keys and live
instrumentation. This is a massive sound that flows
organically from song to song. Worlds apart from
your standard band setup.
Reviews:
The Uk’s Indipendent Newspaper says “Their quirky
dance-pop is pitched somewhere between Talking
Heads and early INXS: choppy rhythm guitars
and whistling are two of the key ingredients in the
noir-sounding “Looking In The Mirror”. Capelle, 25,
is also the band’s chief songwriter, and clearly has
ambitions to match his stadium-friendly voice”.
The UK’s NME says “The one-in-one-out policy at 02
meant that the tent was crammed with people who
desperately needed to be there and the energy was
infectious. It was the kind of vibe only Capelle can
create. We love the fact that ‘Looking In A Mirror’
has become a massive sing-along. “You Ain’t Got
Ya Way” with its gritty beats meets the Kaiser Chiefs
cool should be the UK’s entry for the next Eurovision
Song Contest it’s so damn catchy! The new breed
Talking Heads have once again taken our hearts and
souls and turned them into sticky mulch.
The BBC says “Capelle’s refreshingly raucous mix
of electronic, break beat rock reminds us that track’s
like “Soldier of Fortune” and “Looking In a Mirror”
are feverish dance-floor anthems, rather than
genetically modified sales pitches.
