Sziget set to be a sizzler
With both Glastonbury and Roskilde festivals in the pocket for another year, the European summer festival circuit heads further East in July and August.
Faithless is the culmination of the works of lyricist Maxi Jazz, DJ Sister Bliss and producer Rollo. The trio formed in 1995 with singer and songwriter Jamie Catto and released debut album Reverence the next year to much critical acclaim. Faithless became known for their blend of hip-hop, house, electronica and rock, as well as Jazz’s distinct lyrical style, which draws extensively on his Buddhist beliefs.
Though Catto left the band after 1998 album Sunday 8pm, the remaining members continued to make music, Outrospective (2001) and 2004’s No Roots garnering even more fans and making them one of the most revered dance acts on the planet. Rollo’s sister, pop megastar Dido, also plays a major part in the Faithless story, contributing guest vocals on every album to date.
After over a year touring No Roots, rumours circulated that Faithless would be calling it a day. Despite fuelling speculation with a best of compilation and live DVD, the band returned in 2006 with To All New Arrivals and continued to tour the planet relentlessly.
