Hailing from the musical hotbed of Perth, The Silents use beat and psychedelic influences to craft a sound that references bands from years gone by but is also oh-so-modern.
The band emerged in 2004, when vocalist Lloyd Stowe, guitarist Jamie Terry, bassist Sam Ford and drummer Alex Board began playing relentlessly at pubs and clubs around Perth. Playing with the likes of fellow Perthites Snowman, The Bank Holidays and The Panics, the four-piece continued to build their reputation throughout 2005, and went on to support the likes of Youth Group and The Pictures on WA visits.
Early in 2006, The Silents released debut EP Flicker and Flames through Rubber Records, launched in front of a sold-out crowd at the Amplifier Bar in Perth. Nightcrawl, the EP’s lead single, was added to high rotation on Triple J, while the band were quickly snapped up as house band on Rove Live.
More recently, the guys have become a favourite of The Vines, supporting Craig Nicholls and co on dates up and down the East Coast of Australia. They’re currently working on material for their eagerly-anticipated debut album, which is pencilled in for a late-2007 release.
