The Beastie Boys are a musical group from the New York City boroughs of Brooklyn and Manhattan.
They have enjoyed over 20 years of international critical acclaim and commercial success. They are one of the longest-lived hip-hop acts, whose rock-and-punk-influenced rap has had a significant impact on artists in and outside of the hip hop community. Their recordings and live performances often include MCing, funk, jazz and rock.
The three main members of the Beastie Boys are of Jewish heritage.[1] They are well known for their rapidly changing and often experimental musical style (which is generally considered risky in popular music), jocular and flippant attitude toward interviews and interviewers, obscure cultural references and kitschy lyrics, and performing in unique matching suits.
The Beastie Boys’ success has made them the highest selling hip hop group and the fourth highest selling hip hop artists behind Tupac Shakur, Eminem, and Jay-Z.
Scotland doesn’t really do summer. They say that if you can see the hills in Scotland it’s going to rain; if you can’t see the hills then it’s bloody raining. That said Scotland does attempt summer music festivals
It had been a couple of years since I had been to a Big Day Out and although I originally wasn't as excited by the announced line up compared to previous years, I still had a good feeling about the day.
The story of this Beastie Boys concert is a long and passionate one. From Shake Your Rump to Sabrosa to Ch-Check It Out to Sabotage, it examines the many ways the Beastie Boys exist - and all those ways involve being one of the best bloody bands in the world.
If Big Day Out has proved anything it was that diversity is the key to a successful festival, something that the organisers seem to bear in mind with each passing year.
A mainstay on the European festival calendar, Roskilde Festival has been running since 1971 and is to Scandinavia what Glastonbury is to the UK, namely a massive multi-genre, multi-day, multi-stage extravaganza.
You may have heard a member of Bonde Do Role on Triple J this morning taliking about their up coming Australian tour. What you may not have realised is that the whole eight piece are hitting Canberra as part of the Warehouse Winter Music Festival.
With speculation rife that party-teen Corey Worthington will make a surprise entry into the Big Brother house in 2008, it seems more fuel can be added to the rumour monger’s fire with secret sources revealing to ITM all the goss on his debut single.
Beastie Boys DJ, Mix Master Mike will man the decks to bring the party on home after Good Vibrations Festival wraps up this Saturday night. The award winning turntablist will be joined by Rahzel who will no doubt send the crowd wild with his one man beat box show.
A swathe of smashingly fine dance music acts have been announced for next year's Good Vibration Festival. Grab your dance shoes and get ready to shake your booty
They may be getting on a bit, but they’re still stirring people up apparently if the events at a recent festival in Greece are anything to go by. The venue was stormed mid performance by a group of 30 masked anarchists who sparked a riot in the crowd!
New York’s finest will be back this year with something a little different, an album composed of instrumental tracks in the vein of 1996’s In Sound From Way Out.
Money Mark probably pays his bills by tickling the ivory and ebony at the side of the stage as a vital member of the Beastie Boys entourage. His solo records are also well worth investigating...
